How far in advance should I book a vessel charter?

To ensure availability and adequate preparation time, we recommend booking as early as possible, preferably several months in advance. However, we strive to accommodate urgent requests whenever feasible.​

What should I bring on board for my offshore charter with Goodwin Marine?

Preparing properly for your offshore charter ensures a safe, productive, and comfortable experience. While we supply vessel essentials, we recommend bringing the following personal items:

  • Safety Gear Steel Tip Shoes, Hard Hats, and Reflective Vests should be worn during MOBE, PoP and DEMOBE
  • Retrieval Hooks “Boat” hooks, bridles, and other tools necessary to deploy and recover UUVs and other equipment.
  • Valid ID or required credentials for vessel access and compliance.
  • Sun protection: high-SPF sunblock, sunglasses, hat, and UV-protective clothing.
  • Weather-appropriate outerwear (layers, waterproof jacket, gloves if needed).
  • Personal medications or motion sickness remedies.
  • Any personal dietary needs.
  • Dry bag or waterproof pouch for electronics and valuables.
  • Camera or binoculars (especially for research or wildlife missions).
  • Project-specific gear (e.g., laptop, field notes, test equipment) if relevant.
